New Civic set to drive Honda Malaysia sales

KUALA LUMPUR: The ninth generation Honda Civic made its local debut yesterday with distributor Honda Malaysia Sdn Bhd expecting sales of over 6,000 units in its first year.
The sales target will help Honda Malaysia achieve a leading 40 per cent share of the non-national mid-size cars segment.
The all-new Civic comes in four variants: 1.8L, 2.0L, 2.0L with NAVI and Civic Hybrid 1.5L.
Honda Malaysia targets to sell 5,200 units of the three petrol variants and 1,200 units of the Civic Hybrid.
 
The company is confident that with an impressive stable of hybrid models, it can cross the 10,000 units sales mark for such green vehicles in a year's time.
Besides the Civic Hybrid, other Honda hybrid models here are the CR-Z and Insight.

"For nearly 40 years, Civic has received outstanding reputation by consistently delivering a high level of driving performance, quality, fuel efficiency and values beyond what is expected in its segment," Honda Malaysia managing director and chief executive officer Yoichiro Ueno said at the launch.
Cumulatively, the Civic has sold more than 19.7 million units worldwide since the launch of the first generation in 1972.
In Malaysia, since the launch of the seventh generation in 2003, the Civic has sold over 58,000 units to date.
"It has been simultaneously recognised as the market leader in non-national mid-size sedan segment," Ueno noted.
The Civic success was amplified by the overwhelming reception of the eighth generation launched in 2006 with close to 49,000 units sold, he added.
In the US, which is the biggest market for the Civic, over 163,000 units were sold in the first half of the year.
The Civic 1.8L and 2.0L versions sell at RM115,980 and RM131,980, while the 2.0L with NAVI and the Hybrid cost RM136,980 and RM119,980.


Each generation of Civic has been enhanced with a specific development theme in mind, Ueno said.
"The 2012 Civic embraces the fundamental concept of a futuristic and distinctive compact, a direction that introduces new values that reach ahead of present day needs," he added.
To continue making the Civic a top choice among buyers, Honda Malaysia is offering attractive after-service package.
It includes a five-year warranty with unlimited mileage and a-year warranty with unlimited mileage for IMA battery (for Honda Hybrid).
There are also an extension of preventive maintenance interval from 5,000km to 10,000km and free labour service up to six visits for every alternate paid service until 100,000km.
